3 Things to do in January

Christmas may be over, we’re all back to school and work- but the fun doesn’t have to stop there! Here are my three top picks for events in January.

They are all located in Surrey and London (the really good ones are just worth travelling for!)

Butterflies in the Glasshouse at RHS Wisley
We are very lucky to have Wisley Gardens a short drive away from us. It’s a great spot for all ages- Young ones for a stroll in the buggy, toddlers and older kids love running through the pathways between bushes and trees and there’s a fantastic kids area with all kinds of things to climb and balance on.
Between 17 Jan and 21 Feb the Glasshouse is transformed into a butterfly oasis which is really quite spectacular. All included in the cost of a standard admission ticket, or free if you are a member.
For more information visit the RHS Wisley website here.

These gorgeous images are from when we took my Granny to see the butterflies and Raffy was about 9 months old (they both LOVED it!)

Space Oddity Rave @Electrowerkz, Islington
I know I keep harping on about these raves, but if you’re going to try one thing new in 2015, let it be this.
The theme for this one is Space Oddity- so time to channel your inner alien and book your tickets here.
Big Fish Little Fish (the event organisers) often host events in South London, so if you’d rather wait for one closer to home, it’s a good idea to follow them on Twitter to keep updated. (@BFLFevents)

Grandad, Me and Teddy Too at the Polka Theatre, Wimbledon
Running through until the 8th Feb, this lovely show for ages 2-5 is all about Mia’s imaginative exploration with her Grandad and Teddy Too.
The Polka Theatre is a small children’s theatre hosting beautifully put together productions for children in one of their two theatres. For more information on what’s on and to book tickets, visit their website here.
