This weekend, I feel like I haven’t stopped eating. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. It’s been amazing! On Friday morning, I met up with some friends at the new Lime Tree Cafe on Sheikh Zayed Road. We had the perfect morning; a combination of good company, great coffee and delicious food and above all quiet children. There is a small room tucked away in the corner with a big basket of toys which the boys spent the whole morning in, leaving us to enjoy relaxed conversation and a caffeine hit. I ordered the ‘classic’; eggs florentine with a side of beef bacon. Pre-Dubai I would have never even considered bacon from any animal other than a pig, but having been deprived of bacon for so many breakfasts, I’ve started to make do.
Neal’s mum landed early on Saturday morning and fancied some breakfast so we headed back there again. Once again, we had a lovely breakfast while Raffy played and we had a good catch up. This time there were a few more children, so Raffy had to guard all of the cars and trucks to avoid sharing… We should probably do some work on that.
And for Sunday breakfast, we all headed out to Tom and Serg in Al Quoz. We had a very early (5.15am) start this morning so were ready for breakfast at 8am. I had poached eggs with veal bacon, avocado and salsa which was amazing. By far the best breakfast of the weekend! As a special treat, we ordered Rafferty the banana bread with maple syrup and ice cream and an obligatory jug of orange juice (which he pretty much downed in one). Raffy enjoyed comparing tattoos with one of the heavily decorated waiters, driving his car along the back of the bench and posing for an impromptu photo shoot with yours truly. So much so that he fell asleep in the car on the way home at 9.45am……….
